Perhaps the best way to illustrate where people go totally wrong and can potentially get into trouble with their SPAM compliance is to look at some of the many real world examples that flood into my inbox daily…
I’ve been meaning to do this for a while, as there’s no shortage of examples I could use… but this one was just so bad it inspired me to take action, and now forms the first of an ongoing series of posts which I hope can provide you with valuable examples of what NOT to do - which is always an effective way to learn the right way of doign something…
The email in question…
It was an unsolicited link exchange request - the sort of thing you normally ignore because the sender has no real idea of what you do, so the link is probably not very relevant to the theme of your site.
And there at the bottom of the email was this little gem…

filling in the following form if you don’t want to receive any more
messages from this address.

Hmmm… do ya think they’ve missed the whole point of “anti-spam” regulations???
